Crystal Kay - It's a crime

Name: Crystal Kay
Song: It's a crime
Label: Epic Records

Released: 2008

Genre: Pop

Style: Dance, Electronic, R&B

Language: English

Format: MP3 / 320kbps

Version: Album

Time: 3:16

This new song off of Crystal's eighth album Color Change! sounds like it could have been penned for Britney or Rihanna. Kay's voice is digitally distorted and the arrangement is pulsating. "It's a crime" is written by Bloodshy & Avant.

I LOVE this song. I also identified it with a Britney song, mainly because she's worked with Bloodshy & Avant quite a bit on her past few albums. "It's a crime" easily could've been on Blackout.

My only complaint with the song is that Crystal wasn't given enough vocal reign, but this is how it goes down with Bloodshy & Avant productions. They're all about the digital manipulation of vocals, and solid production where the beat is concerned.

Crystal at least sounds better in English than Hikaru Utada. I thought she sounded awful on Exodus. She could have a big hit with this in the West. It's very 'now' and a solid song.

I like it, but it's funny she should choose to work with producers who aren't into vocalists, because she has a gorgeous voice (and I'm not that into vocalists either).
